Princess

Princess Cruise Line is a premium cruise line. It offers less of interest to children and families, but more for adults. It has large ships like a mass-market cruise line, but more luxury. Here is what makes Princess a good cruise option:

  • Princess loves Alaska!
    • Princess has assigned 9 ships to Alaska. This is a lot of ships, and it shows in their pricing. They are only undercut by MSC, which is two tiers down in quality. In addition, Princess assigns large ships to Alaska, while many other cruise lines assign older, smaller ships to the region.
  • Princess is not that much more expensive
    • While Princess is a premium cruise line, it is not much more expensive than Carnival, their parent corporation. That said, Carnival isn’t the cheapest option.

Here are some reasons you might not want to choose Princess:

  • Princess is more adult-focused
    • While they still offer abundant children’s programming, they aren’t as popular with families. This means that they are less likely to have large numbers of children. While this can be a good thing in some circumstances, it does mean that there may be fewer playmates for your children.
  • Princess can be more expensive
    • While the price is only a little higher than Carnival, it can be higher. This may matter to you. Definitely don’t eliminate them without price comparisons though.
